I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in Elementary Education and a MA in Reading/Writing Specialties.  I have also worked on my Doctorate in Reading/Elementary Ed at Vanderbilt and The University of Kentucky.

I began my career teaching first grade in NC.  I have also taught in MD and KY.  I have taught every grade level K-6 as well as special education, reading specialist, and writing coordinator for the elementary grades.  I came to TN  in 2006 and began teaching in Williamson County and then moved to Shelbyville to Thomas Intermediate(and now Thomas Magnet).  I have over 20 years teaching experience to date.

I live with my daughter, Caitlin, in Eagleville.  Caitlin was accepted into the prelaw program at MTSU and will be a freshman this fall.  She graduated with honors from Shelbyville Central High School.  I am definitely an animal lover. I have 5 dogs(Cyndi, Bentley, Daisy,Petey, and Blackie). I also have 7 boxer puppies compliments of Daisy.  They all will be going to their new homes soon.  I have 8 horses and 1 mini pony as well as 2 pet goats(Moses and Curly). I can't forget my 3 cats, too!  I have always been an animal lover and my mom never knew what I would be bringing home!  I also like to cook, read, and write.  I hope to one day write a book!
